EDGE Grant for Website & App Projects: Eligibility and How to Apply

Planning a website, e-commerce platform, customer portal or mobile app for your business? Singapore’s EDGE Grant offers support for eligible business activities, including digitalisation. Whether your project qualifies depends on the selected activity, its requirements and the proposed scope. A website or app is not automatically eligible simply because it helps your business go digital.

What Is the EDGE Grant in Singapore?

Administered by Enterprise Singapore, the EDGE Grant brings together support previously available under the Enterprise Development Grant (EDG), Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG) and Market Readiness Assistance (MRA). EDGE launched on 30 September 2026, replacing these schemes for new applications. Earlier applications and ongoing projects continue under their respective arrangements.

EDGE is not an acronym for Enterprise Development Grant. It is a single grant framework that lets businesses find support based on the activities they intend to carry out. For website and app projects, start by exploring Automation & Digitalisation and any other activity relevant to your business objectives.

Can the EDGE Grant Support Website or App Development?

Potentially, if the project matches a supportable activity and meets its conditions. Check the activity’s scope, eligible costs and vendor requirements before treating any development quotation as grant-supported.

When assessing your digital needs, you might consider:

  • An e-commerce platform for managing online orders and payments
  • A customer portal for enquiries, bookings or service requests
  • A mobile app that improves customer access to your services
  • System integrations that reduce duplicate data entry
  • Digital workflows that reduce manual administration

These are project ideas to assess against the available activities, rather than a list of automatically approved solutions. Do not assume a basic company website, visual redesign or custom app qualifies without checking the relevant activity terms.

EDGE Grant Eligibility Criteria

The baseline ownership requirements are that the applicant is a business entity registered in Singapore with at least 30% Singapore citizen and/or Singapore permanent resident ownership. Additional requirements depend on the activity selected.

Having a UEN alone does not establish eligibility. Check the ownership requirements, activity conditions, available grant balance and any solution or vendor restrictions before applying.

How Much EDGE Funding Can You Receive?

Funding rates depend on the activity. Enterprise Singapore’s published EDGE guidance states support of up to 50% for SMEs and up to 30% for non-SMEs, with higher ceilings of up to 70% and 50% respectively for internationalisation and sustainability activities. The highest advertised rate should not be assumed to apply to website or app development.

Each company has an overall annual EDGE grant cap of S$100,000, refreshed on 1 April. Within that overall cap, up to S$30,000 can be used for single-function digital solutions, integrated enterprise systems and pre-scoped equipment. The amount approved for an individual application remains subject to the selected activity’s rules and assessment.

EDGE operates on a reimbursement basis. Businesses need to budget for payment first, then submit their claim after completing the activity and paying in full. A quotation or application does not guarantee funding.

What Website and App Costs Are Eligible?

There is no single cost checklist that applies to every EDGE activity. Review the selected activity’s eligible expenses before including design, development, software subscriptions, integrations or other items in your grant budget.

Ask your vendor for an itemised quotation that explains the deliverables, implementation period and pricing. Separate optional services and recurring charges so it is clear which costs you are seeking support for. Do not assume hosting, maintenance, marketing or internal manpower costs are covered.

How to Apply for the EDGE Grant

Step 1: Identify Your Business Needs

Explain what you want to improve. For example, your team may spend too much time processing bookings, updating orders or answering routine customer enquiries. Use this business need to guide your choice of solution.

Step 2: Find a Relevant EDGE Activity

Use Enterprise Singapore’s EDGE activity listings or the BizSG recommender to find relevant support. Read the activity’s eligibility, funding, vendor and application requirements. EDGE uses activity-based applications; the former EDG three-pillar structure should not be used as the application guide.

Step 3: Confirm the Solution and Obtain a Quotation

Check whether the activity requires a listed solution or vendor before selecting a provider. Obtain a quotation with clear deliverables, costs and timelines, and confirm that the proposed scope matches the activity you intend to apply for.

Step 4: Prepare the Required Information

Follow the document checklist for your chosen activity. Prepare the requested company details, quotation and project information. Where outcomes are required, explain how you will measure improvements such as fewer manual tasks, faster processing or increased service capacity.

Step 5: Submit Before Starting Work or Paying a Deposit

Follow the Business Grants Portal link provided on the activity page and submit the application using the required business access. Submit a separate application for each activity.

Do not start work or make any payment or deposit to a supplier, vendor or third party before submitting your application. Enterprise Singapore does not support retrospective applications. Check all applicable commitment and qualifying-period rules before proceeding; submitting an application is not an assurance of approval.

Step 6: Follow the Approval Terms and Complete the Activity

Review and follow the terms of any grant offer, including the approved scope, qualifying period and claim requirements. Keep quotations, invoices, payment records and evidence of completed deliverables.

Step 7: Submit Your Claim

After the activity is completed and fully paid, submit the required claim documents by the applicable deadline. Reimbursement is subject to claim assessment and the approved grant terms.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is EDGE the same as EDG?

No. EDGE combines support previously provided through EDG, PSG and MRA into a single activity-based framework. New applications have been directed to EDGE since 30 September 2026.

Can I apply for a simple company website?

Check whether an available activity supports the proposed solution and scope. A company website is not automatically eligible, and the same applies to a redesign, e-commerce site or custom mobile app.

Can I choose any web developer or app developer?

Check the vendor and solution requirements for the activity first. Do not assume that engaging a developer makes the project eligible for support.

Can I apply if I previously received PSG, EDG or MRA support?

Yes, previous recipients can apply for eligible new activities under EDGE. You cannot seek support again for the same project or expenses already funded. Earlier utilisation under EDG, PSG or MRA does not count towards the EDGE grant cap.

How long does EDGE approval take?

Processing times vary by activity. Refer to the relevant Enterprise Singapore or BizSG activity page rather than relying on a single approval timeline for all EDGE applications.

Do I receive the grant before paying the vendor?

No. EDGE is a reimbursement grant. Claims can be submitted after the activity is completed and full payment has been made, subject to the approved terms.

Plan Your Website or App Project with EDGE in Mind

Start with a clear business objective, identify a suitable EDGE activity and check its requirements before committing to development. A well-defined scope and itemised quotation will help you assess the project budget and prepare the required information.

Planning a new website, e-commerce platform or mobile app? Explore our EDGE grant information and discuss your project requirements with our team. Grant eligibility and approval remain subject to Enterprise Singapore’s assessment.
